i have a 46 gmc pickup with a inline 6 cyl engine . the block is unusable so i am in search of a rebuildable or running engine. i know that several engines will fit, so i am open to ideas to get this rig rolling.thx JT Follow Ups: |

| I would likely go with the newest non-computer engine that would fit without too much mods. I know that a small block Chevy will fit in nicely and the hardest thing is moving the steering box. We replaced the rear end/axles with one from a 70's model Buick station wagon. It was geared low enough to pull pretty good and high enough for highway speeds. Follow Ups: |

| I believe there were 3 sizes of GMC six cylinders, with the 301 being the largest. I also know a Chevy 235 will bolt up, but is shorter in length. Why not go with a much newer engine if you plan to make it a daily driver? like a 70s Chevy six. Follow Ups: |

| i thank you all for the input the possable doner truck is a 68gmc with a long stroke 302 out of a z28 .a real solid truck but just as solidly ugly as most of the 46 truck is there and straight i may just put a 235 in and concentrate on body work for now Follow Ups: |
