I finally got to see and touch an IHC S-100 that was promised to me several months ago. It has been sitting for over 20 years, but is in good enough shape that I'm going to attempt to restore it. The ID plate has been painted over, but I was able to read the stamped numbers and letters. The serial number is S-100-S59943. Can anyone tell me what model year this is? It looks like photos of 1956 S-series trucks, but I would like to be sure before filing the title paperwork.

Next question; The truck is on blocks and the original wheels could not be found. I brought one of the brake drums home with me to get the bolt pattern (5-bolt, 4 1/2 inch circle). Can anyone tell me what size tires were recommended for this model, and the rim width of a standard wheel?

Thanks,

John C.

On the 56 S-100 I believe 6.70 x 15 were standard and 7.10 x 15 were optional tire size.

I would suggest checking out this site. www.oldihc.org. Just getting started, this site will give you exposure to others with the same truck. A parts, owners & sales books will help alot too.
