I have a 1996 ford f-150 4x4 with a 2" lift on the front to try to level it out, I pulled a bumper hitch trailer with a 70's model dodge powerwagon on it with my f150 and it felt like it raised the front wheels off the ground and the front was swaying left to right especially when i hit rough spots in the road, i could onle get up to about 20 mph safely, i had it in overdrive but still had power. just wondering if anyone could help me with my pulling problem thanks

Best help someone could give is to advise you to not tow that combo with a 1/2 ton truck until there a bunch of experience under your belt. A 4x makes a poorer choice for towing than a 2X. The truck on the trailer probably weighs more than your rated capacity on the 1/2t, plus you have to add the trailer weight. When towing a truck on a trailer the large amount of weight(engine) away from the centerline of the axles gives more momentum to promote swaying. Stabilizer bars would be a tremendous help. If your's is a short bed truck that makes it worse. Big tires, worse yet. The closer you are to the ground(and not get too low) and the longer wheelbase on the tow rig the better. Be careful bud, freind of mine did the same thing, made the mistake of taking the freeway and made it 5.5 miles before totaling the both trucks and trailer.

Sounds like an issue with the sway bar not being mounted correctly, or a broken mount. Or not being present, or heavy enough.

Did you correct the camber and check the caster on the front end after you raised the height?

What is the condition of the suspension components, especially the rubber bushings? If they are original from the factory, there is probably a bit of dryrot.

Was the trailer load balanced so most of the weight was being born by the trailer axle/s rather than the rear bumper? Do you have the heavier springs for towing? Do you have a rear sway bar? If not, consider adding one.
