Just wondering if anybody had any idea's on how to put brakes on a cut off one ton truck trailer. I have a 79 GMC one ton grain truck with a 12 ft. box and hoist on it. The cab is about all rotted off but the box is in good repair with a strong twin cylinder hoist under it. I would like to turn it into a trailer and would like to put a gooseneck hitch to pull it on the road with my F250 super duty Ford with a V10 in it. I would like to use it to move grain and firewood but wonder about the safety side when it is loaded on the road with no brakes. Any suggestion. |

| That is right. I remember a neighbour about 20 years ago who had a stock trailer and it was set up with vacum over hydraulic. Thanks for the reminder. |

| If you are going on highway you will need to know what the rules are in your state / province. It may be allowable to use surge brakes. - that's a unit on the hitch that applies hydraulic pressure to the brakes when the trailer "runs up" on the truck. Or you may need something fancier. |

| Surge brakes were my first thought. Really easy toset up if the truck(trailer) already has hydraulic brakes. You will almost certainly need brakes to be legal and safe. Just about all jurisdictions require brakes on trailers over 2000# GVW |
