There should be a little bit of the block that extends past the head. If the number is missing, the block was probably rebuilt and the deck milled. That number and a little work on the internet should tell you exactly what it is.   [Reply]  [No Email]

You can also search for Chevy VIN decoder sites, and (if the engine is original) find out what engine it is from the VIN code.   [Reply]  [No Email]
