Cleaning the place up and came across a Ford 9" rear end yesterday. Was wondering if these are still a sought after item among the "Hot Rodders" or if thay have been phased out by something newer. If they are still in demand, what kind of price range? Thanks. |

| They are stil used and still in demand, but they are certainly not rare or hard to come by. Ford made millions of them and used them in numerous cars and truck from 1958 through the early to mid 80's. Unless its something special, say with a nodular carrier, 31 spline axles, a four pinion or Detroit locker, or a desireble, hard to find gear ratio, it's not worth a lot. Probably 50 to 75 dollars as a core to a race car shop or slightly more to an individual. |

| Check "Ford 9 inch rear end" on ebay - there seems to be a huge amount of trading in them - you may be able to find prices for your particular one too. |

| | The case from the 9" ford is in high demand for modified race cars--I sell case or housing for 40.00 each... Nodular iron ones bring much more from certain drag racers--I have a few but never sold any yet.. |

| Thanks for the information, Mike. I was talking to a friend who is fairly knowledgeable in the auto parts field and he said the 3.50:1 ratios are the ones they are looking for. Of course mine is a 2.75:1 which I guess is not much in demand. It is the free floating carrier though. So you're saying just the axle itself (without the carrier)has some "value", correct? |
