I am about to buy a 1956 Chevy Cameo. The guy said the vin # was V3A56S014526. Is there any way to verify that this is indeed a original Cameo? I do not want to spend big bucks if this is a regular 1956 truck with a Cameo bed added later (to pass it off as a original Cameo). Thanks for any help/advice that you might have.Dave |

| | I am not exactly sure when the VIN numbers' second location was first used, but if the frame is clean look at the cross members at the rear of the truck- usually it is the one next to the last one (in case of accident), on the back side should be the VIN of the vehicle if they used one. The GMC version was made just enough different that effectively no body parts interchange. The NADA puts out a book (like the "Blue" and "Gold" books)dealing with the older cars and trucks, and they do give a complete breakdown of the VIN when they have the info. |
